Blogging for a cause seminar



Yadu Karu’s Blog and LS Media & Events Production conducted a seminar entitledBlogging for a Cause: A Practical Guide to Blog for Advocacies last September 27, 2014 at Mindanao State University-Graduate School AVR. Different youth leaders and youth/civic organizations as well students from colleges and universities in GenSan participated in the said event. The blogging seminar aids the participants to utilize the power of social media in spreading relevant advocacies and helps them engage in nation building.

The Case of Citra Mina Workers



Citra Mina is one of the successful canning companies in General Santos City. The company was established in GenSan in 1983 and continuous to manufactured Tuna products up to this time. At first their products were distributed primarily to the local market and canning buyers. Until such time they expanded and distributed it to foreign market like Japan and the U.S. The company has five independently operating sister companies, namely - the Citra Mina Seafoods Corporation (CMSC), the Mommy Gina Tuna Resources (MGTR), Philfresh, Tuna Exporters, Inc and the Citra Mina Seafoods Market, Inc. (CMSI), the retailing arm. But behind its success lies the gruesome reality about its workers’ condition due to their harsh working environment and negligence of the rights of its workers.

Mindanao State University-GenSan in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) organized a two-day workshop called Stage Lighting: The Basic and Beyond last May 20-21, 2014 at MSU-AVR Graduate School. Sarangani Big Brother Season 6 Culmination Day







In its sixth year, the Sarangani Big Brother (SBB) celebrates its success last May 9, 2013 at Maitum Municipal Gym, Maitum Sarangani Province. The said event is attended by the volunteers, teachers and different stakeholders who help this program become successful.

Culmination of Sarangani Big Brother in Maasim















Yadu Karu, Ariel Lalisan and Team Bundol Mountaineer (from Alabel), documented the culmination of Sarangani Big Brother (SBB) in three schools in Maasim, Sarangani Province. These three schools are Maasim Central Elem. School in Poblacion Maasim; Happy Valley Elem. School in Bales, Maasim; and Ireneo E. Lopez Elem. School in Lumasal Maasim.

This is the 6th year of this program. This “Sarangani Big Brother: Reading is Fun!” was designed by the Quality Education for Sarangani Today (QUEST) program of Governor Migs Dominguez basically to assist the Department of Education (DepEd) in reducing the number of “frustration readers” in the province.

HABI goes to Sitio Sufu





The Hearts and Brains Inc. (HABI) conducted a medical mission, durian tree planting, child feeding program, child friendly activity (CFA), livelihood education, clothes (ukay-ukay) distribution and putting up of E-health center to the Tboli tribe of Sitio Sufu Brgy. Maan Tboli, South Cotabato. The three day activity held last April 10-12 was conceptualized by the Bayaning Pilipino Awardee Dr. Roel Cagape and the HABI Volunteer Group in partnership of the 27th Infantry Battalion.
